Request For Proposal (RFP) Project
As a Whiting-Turner intern, I led a real-world RFP project for the previously built 'Duke Medical Office Building,' applying construction management principles to develop and present a full proposal to the Charlotte office.

Problem
The primary challenge was developing an accurate and competitive proposal with minimal background documentation. Our team had to quickly understand the project scope, interpret drawings, and determine key construction priorities while maintaining realistic cost assumptions and efficient site logistics under professional expectations.
Solution
Using Bluebeam for quantity takeoffs and document review, Excel for detailed cost estimating and financial analysis, and consistent team collaboration, we produced a comprehensive proposal that included cost estimates, site logistics plans, and priority room and framing strategies. We presented our findings and recommendations to the entire Charlotte office, including other interns, the Project Manager, and the program director, demonstrating clear communication of both financial and logistical plans.

This intern project strengthened my ability to work with incomplete information, collaborate effectively in a professional setting, and present technical and financial data to industry stakeholders. The experience reinforced my interest in construction and engineering leadership while building skills directly applicable to future roles in the field.
