Drone Flight Project
I collaborated with NCAT HOME Scholars to design, build, and test a small-scale drone, serving as the primary builder and recorder while leading the project from concept development through final flight testing and faculty presentation.

Problem
The team faced the challenge of developing a reliable and flight-capable drone while balancing mechanical design, component integration, stability, and control within a limited academic timeframe. Additionally, without clear documentation and structured coordination, design iterations and technical decisions risked becoming inconsistent, leading to inefficiencies and potential performance issues during testing.
Solution
We implemented an iterative design and testing process supported by detailed documentation, structured task delegation, and continuous team communication. By systematically recording design changes, test results, and mechanical adjustments, we improved decision-making efficiency, resolved stability and integration issues, and successfully delivered a functional drone that met performance expectations and could be clearly communicated to academic leadership.
Our team’s drone achieved the highest flight altitude among all groups within the HOME Program, demonstrating both strong mechanical performance and effective system integration.
As the primary builder and recorder, I leveraged my prior experience in technology, wiring, and component management to ensure efficient assembly, clean wire routing, and reliable electrical connections, which directly contributed to stable flight performance. The project required the drone to execute controlled vertical motion as well as forward and backward lateral movement, and through careful construction, testing, and iteration, our team successfully met and exceeded these requirements.
