What is NSBE?

The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) is a student-led, nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and increasing the number of Black engineers and technical professionals. NSBE provides academic support, leadership development, professional networking, and career readiness through conferences, workshops, mentorship, and industry partnerships. With chapters nationwide and globally, NSBE empowers its members to excel academically, lead with purpose, and positively impact their communities and the engineering profession.

My Role

As Treasurer for the largest HBCU chapter in the country, I am responsible for overseeing the organization’s financial operations and administrative coordination, ensuring accurate budgeting, transparent financial reporting, and responsible allocation of resources. This role manages budgets, monitors expenditures, processes reimbursements, and supports fundraising and sponsorship initiatives while maintaining compliance with university and national policies.

Effective management involves both the Administrative and Finance Zones by aligning financial planning with organizational goals and operational timelines. Through structured systems, clear communication, and consistent oversight, the Treasurer supports executive decision-making and promotes sustainable, well-governed organizational operations.
