Through education, advocacy, and hands-on engagement, ASCE promotes innovation, ethical practice, and the design of sustainable infrastructure that serves communities worldwide.
3D Printed Bridge Team Captain
As the newly elected Team Captain of the ASCE 3D-Printed Bridge Team, I lead design, fabrication, and competition preparation for our regional symposium challenges. Last year, our team achieved second place with the strongest load-bearing bridge in the history of the Carolina symposium, demonstrating advanced structural design and collaborative engineering execution. This year, we are leveraging increased team collaboration, shared experience, and refined methodologies to enhance performance and competitiveness.
The ASCE 3D Printing: Bridging the Future Competition challenges student teams to design and fabricate a 3D-printed bridge that excels in structural strength, stiffness, aesthetic design, assembly efficiency, and overall performance against strict geometric criteria. The competition emphasizes innovation in additive manufacturing applied to civil engineering and provides students with experiential learning outside the classroom, including design presentation, timed assembly, and load testing.
